THE FUTURE OF SWITCHING TECHNOLOGY

USB-C CAPABILITIES FOR WEAPON MOUNTED LIGHTS AND SWITCHES

Featuring LINK™ System technology, the GASCAP™ USB-C Tailcap marks a paradigm shift for switching technology, bringing USB-C capabilities to weapon mounted lights and switches. The robust performance of the LINK™ System interface provides near-zero-loss output and dependable, repeatable activation. The lateral and reversible interface on the GASCAP™ provides a variety of mounting and cable management options, while its cage protects the cable and ensures a solid lockup.

GASCAP™ features an onboard full-size latching button for momentary or constant activation of your device. Made of high-impact polymer, GASCAP™ is durable in even the most austere environments. Currently available for SureFire® Scout®-style weapon lights, GASCAP™ pairs with UNITY’s AXON™, AXON™ SL and ModButton™ Lite switch portfolios.

FAQs

Is there lumen loss?

GASCAP™ offers near-zero-loss for light output. Internal testing shows that the output of GASCAP™ with an AXON™ or AXON™ SL results in the same output as when using a standard rear tailcap button (not a remote switch). Voltage drop occurs as a function of cable length, but it is so negligible in the case of GASCAP™ / UNITY™ switches, that it does not affect output.

Why USB-C?

LINK™ will not just be relegated to weapon mounted lights. LINK™ is the hub of a system; GASCAP™ and our three lines of switches are the first spokes.

  • LINK™ USB-C technology offers a wealth of benefits to support UNITY’s next generation of switching and integration.
  • USB-C is the most used connector across industries and in very high-power applications up to 200 watts. Its capabilities allow us to begin to shift toward next generation technology.
  • Near-Zero-Loss output due to the robust performance of the LINK™ interface.
  • It’s compact, lightweight and highly durable.
  • The connector is reversible, meaning it can be installed in two positions. This provides a great deal of convenience and ease of use, as well as better cable placement/management.
  • This technology increases the capability and versatility of our lines of AXON™, AXON™ SL and ModButton™ Lite switches.
But why is it better?
  • Made of high-impact polymer, GASCAP™ weighs nearly one ounce less than other available tailcaps.
  • Superior strength-to-weight ratio means it’s durable in even the most severe environments.
  • It is waterproof up to one meter for 30 minutes with or without a cable installed.
  • GASCAP offers dependable, repeatable activation.
  • Full-size latching button for momentary or constant activation.
  • Full size clicky button is large and easy to press.
  • Lateral and reversible interface. Flat/compact/low profile placement of the switch when plugged in.
  • GASCAP™ cage protects both the connector and cable and ensures solid lockup with cable routing.
  • LINK™ System integrates systems for improved performance. It serves as the platform on which to expand future capabilities. Investing in products that will allow your systems to become more sophisticated in the future saves you an investment down the road.
Can you charge your flashlight battery through GASCAP™?

No, the flashlight cannot be charged through GASCAP™.

Will GASCAP™ work on other lights?

Currently, it is only compatible with SureFire® Scout®-style light bodies.

Can I clock GASCAP™?

It does not clock, but the cable is reversible, and the cage allows you to route the cable in four directions. You can’t set the timing on it.

How does the cable fit into the cage?

The cage is reversible and can be attached in either direction. There are four positions where the cable can exit the cage – two in each direction on the side orientation and the front or back. You can reverse the cage to accommodate your preferred direction. It does lockout by loosening the tailcap from the flashlight.

Can I plug any USB-C cable into GASCAP™?

No, GASCAP™ must be paired with a UNITY™ LINK™ System switch. Using any non-LINK™ cable will void your GASCAP™ warranty.
